Young Americans Slam Donald Trump With His Worst Ratings Ever!
President Trump just hit a new low, and young Americans are leading the charge. According to a fresh April 2025 Pew Research Center poll, only 36% of adults aged 18–29 approve of how Trump handled his time in office, and a staggering 63% disapprove.
That is a net drop of -27 points, a massive shift compared to the 2024 election, when Trump actually edged out a slim win among young voters.
What happened between then and now? Young voters aren’t just “meh” about Donald Trump anymore. They are actively frustrated.
Trump Crushed the Economic Hopes
Donald Trump pitched himself as the comeback king for the economy, but young adults are not buying it anymore. About 51% of them say his economic policies will hurt their wallets. Only 18% think they will help. That is brutal.

Trump / IG / Even worse, Trump’s once-strong reputation for financial management is crumbling. Confidence in how he handles the economy has dropped to 45%, hitting lows he hasn’t seen since 2019.
For a guy who built his brand on “winning,” this looks like a major loss.
Tariffs and Market Jitters Add Up
The market’s recent rollercoaster ride didn’t do Donald Trump any favors. His tariff-heavy approach is turning young investors’ stomachs. Nearly 59% disapprove of how he has handled trade, blaming him for market volatility and whispers of a looming recession.
Trump may have bet big on tough trade wars boosting American jobs, but for young workers and savers, it feels more like a trap. Rising prices, job insecurity, and shaky markets don’t scream “economic genius” to a generation already struggling.
Party Lines and Deep Divides
It is not just hardcore liberals rejecting Donald Trump now. Pew’s numbers show that 93% of Democrats and a surprising 58% of independents disapprove of him. It is a bipartisan pile-on.
Racial divides are growing, too. Only 14% of Black Americans and 29% of Asian Americans now approve of Trump. These are sharp drops from just a few months ago. For a leader who once claimed he had “done more for minorities than any other president,” this is a brutal reality check.
Youth Stress at Breaking Point
Money worries and social stress are killing Trump’s brand with Gen Z and young millennials. Harvard’s March 2025 Youth Poll backs it up: 61% of young adults now disapprove of him.

Trump / IG / Many young Americans say they are “barely getting by” financially, and few feel connected to a strong community.
Words like “scary” and “chaotic” pop up when they describe Trump’s presidency. That is not exactly the kind of energy young voters want running the country.
It Is NOT an Anti-Trump Issue, Though!
Donald Trump’s overall approval rating has slipped to 40%. That is just as bad as it got during some of the darkest days of his first term. For comparison, Joe Biden’s approval rating at the same point back in 2021 was a much healthier 59%.
The shift among young voters might not be purely anti-Trump, though. Many aren’t exactly thrilled about either major party. There is a growing sense that politicians from both sides just don’t get it. But right now, Trump is the one feeling the full force of their frustration.
Sure! Donald Trump has built a career out of beating bad odds. But this time, the damage to young voters looks real. It is a major fracture. Turning things around won’t be as easy as throwing out a catchy slogan or hosting a rally.
